There are many more online sites where you can start your chess journey, such as Chesscademy, Chessimo, FICS, Chess Tactics, Chess Tempo, and more. Depending on your requirements, you could find something in one of these that the ones we’ve highlighted don’t have. Which site are you using to hone your chess game? Let us know via the comments. We advise learning the basics of chess before playing online. When playing, the different moves each piece can make is highlighted – so you can’t make a wrong move. Each turn is on a timer, however, so you must think fast! Chess is either a tied game (meaning if both players play optimally, each player can at best force a draw), a white win, or a black win (again, we don’t know what the answer is, but chess has to be one of these). Whichever it is, that will be the result when two optimally playing computers play against each other.

    – Continue to Zoom out a little more every 30 seconds until someone guesses it Start a story with an engaging hook. For instance, “One day I was walking through a shady forest. I thought I was alone, but all of a sudden…” Have students raise their hand if they want to tell the next portion of the story. Choose a student to continue the story (just a line or two) and let them choose the next storyteller in the same way. Continue until everyone who wishes has had one chance to contribute. Feel free to jump back and bring the story to a close if it is floundering.
